From journey to transformation: making impact together at Scildon

Because of a previous, lengthy assignment, Kyden and Scildon already knew each other. While the assignment we describe below was much smaller in terms of budget, the impact we were able to make with Scildon may have been much greater. What we are really proud of is how satisfied the target group (Scildon employees) was; we apparently not only delivered measurable results around a tough topic, but did so in a pleasant way.

From boardroom to shop floor: Scildon accelerates its sustainable transition

Scildon management and shareholders want to make Scildon more sustainable. This, in the interests of both Scildon customers, its own employees and the environment. However, structural and fundamental sustainability cannot be achieved from the boardroom alone; it can only be achieved if employees from all functions and at all levels cooperate in this. That was the bottleneck: until now, employees had been little included in this complex issue, and thus unable to take targeted action.

Scildon asked Kyden to advise how, step by step, employees can be informed and made enthusiastic about the opportunities and necessity of sustainability, but also encouraged to contribute to it themselves.

Result

A long-term plan, consisting of 3 phases. And phase 1 was immediately put into practice by Kyden: This was an interactive training in which the question"What is sustainability and why is it important (for Scildon)?" was central. This training was given 15 times and everyone employed by Scildon participated as a result. For employees the training was 'a must' beforehand and for some there was some allergy to the term 'sustainability', but during the sessions engagement was high and the right size (max 15 participants) allowed for a good dialogue.

The result was a series of interactive and inspiring sessions in which all employees felt involved in the transition to a more sustainable business. The training not only provided insight into ESG topics, but also contributed to a culture of mutual understanding and connection, an essential foundation for great transformation.

Quote client

Client after training about an employee who was known to be very critical of sustainability: "Just now Kees came to me to say he liked the training so much. He was skeptical at first and afraid it would be pedantic, but the opposite was true and he appreciated the dialogue.
